Mythic people, fictional or real, are so not because of any of the reasons in the essay ("drink from the bitter"--what insufferable rot!) but because those who meet them, in fiction or in reality, cannot understand them in their larger, more complex, and irreducible forms. Learning to embrace the whole is the antidote to the pain of the isolani. The rest is a game.
Yes, it's an almost comically tedious essay. I would say, though, that I think your prescription is either a lot of nonsense or else recommending the worst sort of self-deception. Mostly, though, I would have just liked to have linked to an English translation of 'Moskva-Petushki' but there aren't any to link to. Have a nice day.
