This morning, waiting for coffee to brew, drinking yesterday's cold coffee, not as cold as has been usual lately, watching the dogs in the yard, thinking about intellectual laziness as a method for avoiding stress, about how authoritatively L. advises the kid on interpersonal matters, so unlike anything I'd ever do.
Anyway, on to the hot coffee, shower, etc. Running late for work, wanted to sleep & sleep & sleep, cool breezes through my windows.

I think the word "advises" is operative here. He doesn't have to do anything I advise him but I think I give good advice. He is free to pick and choose and use whichever nuggets he deems worthy.
Perhaps I lecture him on things he might do and 15% rings a bell in his head as helpful and he actually goes through and uses 5% of that and in the end 2% ends up being useful to him. Then I've done my job as mom, I think, and I feel good about it.
It's all raw material, the advice, and I'd rather give him too much cloth to cut than too little.
Certainly no criticism implied. Just find it interesting how much your tone varies from any way I'd be likely to say anything to anybody. Probably because I have no experience talking to little kids, I'd guess.
i took no criticism.
as for tone, i guess that is the schoolmarm in me.
